Bank of England 6- 1 Granby

Despite a spirited display by Granby, the Bank proved to be the stronger side, winning the London Financial Football Association Challenge Cup final 6-1.

Taking advantage of early midfield supremacy, the Bank were 2-0 up after 22 minutes. The first goal came just three minutes from kick-off with a goal by fullback Andrew Taylor.

The Bank had to wait another 19 minutes before David Samuels scored the first of his three goals. Granby hit back, and with the half time score at 2-1, the game was by no means over.

Although the Bank started the second half in an offensive mood it was Granby who nearly found an equaliser after 55 minutes.

However, ten minutes later the game was effectively over when David Samuels had the simplest of chances to head the Bank's third goal from what appeared to be an innocuous cross. Two minutes later Scott Simmons made it four. At 70 minutes Adam Boothroyde scored the Bank's fifth goal and five minutes before the end David Samuels netted once again for a deserved hat trick.
